A recently filed class action lawsuit alleges that 57 nursing homes across the state of California are guilty of fraud, unfair business practices and violation of residents’ rights. The lawsuit was filed October 7 in Los Angeles Superior Court and contends that the owner of Brius Management and Brius LLC, which owns Novato Healthcare, was “a serial violator of skilled nursing industry laws and regulations.” The lawsuit alleges that the home at which the plaintiff stayed was so understaffed that a nurse attempted to move the plaintiff by herself, resulting in his injury. The lawsuit seeks compliance with health care facility laws and regulations, the reporting of future violations, the surveying of patients to detect abuses and monetary damages.

On October 4th 6 people were driving home from a late night at Knott’s Berry Farm when the driver of a late model BMW crashed killing his 5 passengers.
The 16 year old driver didn’t have a drivers licenses. He was ejected from the car and rushed to Mission Hospital.
According to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi the people remaining in the car were burned beyond recognition.
None of the names were officially released as the coroner worked to identify the burned bodies and notify relatives.

A recall has been issued on NRS water sports helmets due to a risk of head injury. According to the recall, “the rivets holding the chin strap to the helmet can fail and cause the helmet to fall off in an incident, posing a risk of head injury.” NRS has received four reports of the helmet’s rivets failing, but they have not received any reports of injuries. There were about 3,300 of the helmets sold at NRS, Outdoorplay, REI and other paddlesports equipment stores nationwide.
